HBO tasked us with creating a conceptually immersive and elevated space to amplify the voices of women in honor of Women’s month. The physical concept centered around books; printed works shelved, encased, or mounted on walls, alit and blown up into incredible, perhaps necessary proportion. Original diaries, memoirs, and letters were provided from the women of HBO, superb talents across all the renowned network series. Written pages morphed into living exhibits for guests to interact with. Sheer scrims literally layered stories together, streams of consciousness relentlessly ticked out on receipt paper. A hanging auditory cone read stories aloud, creating a fleetingly intimate space. Messages long hidden revealed themselves in over a dozen installations. The intent was to invite guests to stay awhile, and to think on their own stories within context of the exhibition. To help make that goal a reality for guests, we paired with beloved Tea Bar to design a temporary cafe from scratch.
